About Monique
she/her
Disciple of the unknowable, midwife of soul, student of bewilderment, holder
of silence, shelter for what is tender and shy and still forming, fellow traveler,
guide through sensorial landscapes of what is and what wants to be. Artist,
poet, dancer, mystic, mother, grandmother, soul friend, deep listener,
companion, thread follower, seeker of possibility, lover of impossibility, empty
spaces, and all that is curious and wild. I feel at home in the dark listening for
the whispers, songs, stories and dreams that emerge from the wilderness of
in-between places.
With over two decades of practice in the healing arts, the indigenous wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture and Taoist Alchemy is the foundation from which my work continuously evolves, grounded and enlivened by the ways in which natural world and other-than-human intimacies guide, transform and inspire new possibilities.
Since the initial call to healing in my early twenties I have explored many traditions including somatic embodiment practices, meditation, energy work, indigenous wisdom, mythology, ritual, diverse spiritual teachings, massage therapy, advanced craniosacral therapy, authentic movement, 5 Rhythms dance, yoga, and more. Though it all, the creative process informs all aspects of my healing work. Painting, carving and writing have been instrumental to the honing of my skills in presence, patience, trust, surrender and discipline.
I graduated from Middle Way Acupuncture Institute with a masters diploma in acupuncture. I am certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine as a Diplomate of Acupuncture and licensed by the state of Washington as a Practitioner of Acupuncture. Since 2019 I have studied Alchemical Acupuncture and its Inner Traditions with Lorie Eve Dechar, visionary alchemical acupuncturist, psychotherapist, teacher and author of Five Spirits, Kigo and The Alchemy of Inner Work. I received grief ritual training from Francis Weller, teacher, psychotherapist, alchemical grief tender and author of The Wild Edge of Sorrow: Rituals of Renewal and the Sacred Work of Grief with his wonderful cohorts who each bring their unique medicine as embodied guides and alchemical space holders: Holly Truhlar, Alexandre Jodun, Erin Geesaman Rabke and Carl Rabke.
As a seasoned practitioner I have witnessed the ways in which the call to heal often has roots that reach beyond the removal of symptoms toward an inherent longing to come fully alive, to live a life of depth and soul, to discover purpose and meaning in connection to the greater whole. Pain and suffering opens us to the sacred, inviting us to come home to our authenticity, to community, to the gifts that are only ours to share.
I am deeply humbled by the dedication of my patients who are among my greatest teachers, along with my two adult children, partner David, and wonderfully spirited grandson whose questions lead me ever-forward into an unknowable future with and enduring fire in my heart for creating a world that honors and nourishes all beings everywhere.
I look forward to supporting you in your journey and discovering what is possible.
